My experience

I studied Linguistics and ESL (English as a Second Language) at U of M in Ann-Arbor. Soon after, I was off to Europe to immerse myself in language and culture. With a few detours and a few years on top, I have 3 wonderful bi-lingual children and a successful  language coaching business.

“I’d love to join you on your journey to feeling completely ‘you’ in English.”

Anna-Lisa

Ending up in Germany was not my life plan but has become an integral part of who I have become. Knowing and speaking German has anchored a different way of thinking and feeling in me. I experience the world from both the perspective of America and Europe, specifically Germany. Having both languages in my mind enables me to grasp concepts that I couldn't have in only one language.

My story

Long time ago

The Beginnings

Born in NJ in the U.S. with European / American roots to great parents–my Swedish mother was a reading teacher and my American / Danish father a city planner and farmer.

Still a long time ago

Close to the sea

Raised in the U.S. close to the Atlantic Ocean. This was my happy place: with my parents and my brother Lars and sister Ingrid.

Education

I loved languages back then and now. I had contact to Arabic, Ojibwa, French, Spanish, German, Burmese, Chinese. The world sounded exciting. My university years were fantastic and fun.

Off to Europe

I came to Europe with hopes of immersing myself in French. That path did not work. So I ended up in Germany, taught myself German, started teaching English. Travelled. Learned A LOT about life, people and culture.

Family

Met a man, got married, started a family, renovated a farmhouse, started my business and created a home in Germany.

My philosophy

Learning a language is like learning a sport. If you want to learn a tennis forehand, you have to practice!  I'll show you how to become ‘language fit’.

Personal approach

Come as you are, exactly where you are, on your own language learning journey. From beginner to advanced, business to personal, one hour to 50 hours, we will grow your English from your personal starting point.

Flexible schedule

We adapt the language learning schedule to suit your life and changing goals. I support you with ideas and a plan. I also give you that extra push to keep you going.

Your goals first

You are the best person to know what your goals are and what you need to keep working towards them. I will guide you with specifics to reach your language learning goals.
